Alexxx the Rat

Alexxx wasn't just a rat to me. He was my friend, and my companion.
He had the best personality, and was truly a joy to watch. He used to chase my black lab around the house and nibble at his paws. Who would have ever thought a rat could beat out a lab?

I used to let Alexxx run around my bedroom all day, and never had to worry about droppingrs or cord chewing. Whenever he had to do his business, he went right into his cage. He was such a good boy.

Dr Means met Alexxx on March 3rd, 2009. Alexxx had been suffering for about a month, but the last 2 weeks before the vet, it got increasingly bad. I had no choice but to put him to sleep. Hes brought me so much joy in his 2 1/2 year life time, I couldn't bear to see him suffer anymore.
His weakness was brought on by possible kidney failure, cancer or a brain tumor.

Some people might find it a little odd to be so attached to a rat, but he was more than that. He was very special to me, and forever in my heart.

I want to thank everyone at North Hampton Vet for your kindness, sorrow and knowledge. Thank you for the card, very much. It meant a lot, and showed you guys go above and beyond the typical vet.
